Volunteer

BKA loves its volunteers. We are an entirely volunteer-run organization, which means that we have no paid staff and everything about the organization is run by volunteers who give their time, energy, expertise and camaraderie to make this organization work.

We are always looking for a few good volunteers!

Volunteers help out in a variety of ways, from helping at events to serving on committees to leading programs and initiatives to playing a role on the leadership. New opportunities to get involved are always arising; however, specific areas of volunteer involvement are:

Events

Our largest area of need. Setting up and breaking down events, planning (organizing, finding venues, etc.), publicity or just being there to make sure everything runs smoothly. We sometimes also need volunteers to take larger roles in planning or leading committees for larger events.

Speakers & Panelists

BKA is sometimes contacted by outside organizations to present panels or workshops on Korean/transracial adoption. Individuals willing to speak on panels or co-present workshops with all levels of experience are always welcome.

Committees

BKA sometimes needs to form ad-hoc committees for anything from event planning to curriculum review to grant identification and proposal development to scholarship application review.

Expertise

BKA is always interested in talking to people with areas of specific professional and work expertise. These areas include, but are not limited to, publicity/marketing, fundraising, finance, foundation work and grant writing, travel, social media, and website development/online content.
