Join BKA for a discussion on the "Adoptee Experience: Exploring and Defining What This Means".
Together, we will explore and discuss the notion of the adoptee experience. During this engagement, we will explore the following questions: what does the adoptee experience mean to you? How have you defined your own life around what it means to be an adoptee? Is being adopted an identity and/or an experience? What type(s) of joy, pleasure, tension, or inquiries have you encountered as an adoptee? What do you wish "others" knew? What insights are missing and/or needs to be elaborated in the adoptee experience? With these guiding questions, collectively, we will have an opportunity to deepen and broaden each others understanding of the adoptee narrative. We encourage you to engage however is best for you whether it is sharing, writing, talking, listening, and processing while getting to know each other.
A selection of short articles around the topic will be available to read at your own leisure before the event.
Previously, the discussion group has hosted events on various film screenings and discussions on KAD conferences, anxiety, stereotypes, relationships, and families among adoptees.
This event will be held at ImpactHub, 50 Milk Street, Boston MA in the Windrose Conference Room on the 5th Floor. Sign in at the desk, then take the left-hand elevator up to the 5th floor. Walk through the double doors into the ImpactHub conference center and then the conference room is directly in front of you.
